The goal of testing all of these keywords for a variety of different metrics is to see which keywords will work best from different angles. The easiest way to keep track of your keywords and their test results is in a spreadsheet. In one column, note down every keyword in alphabetical order. Here’s an idea of some of the tests you can run.

Does your site already rank for the term? If yes, populate a column with a 1. If not, leave the column with a 0. You want to reward keywords you don’t need to work extra to rank in.

If your keywords rank, how close are they to the top? Assign points for ranges. 1-3 is hard to move, so leave it at 0. 4-10 is close and can improve, so give it 5 points — a high potential keyword. Go down the rankings from there, with anything below 30 left at 0 points.
